Lily Poem by Joy Mitra

Lily

Lily
daytime was a bliss
for long the sun showered gold upon you
you blossomed so pretty
none among the bunch could match you

But the gods love to play, the planets love to dance
day has receded and the night has trespassed
Lily you wonder whose cynosure you are now
for the gaze of the sun has been lost

Lily
you look to the glittering sky enmeshed in black
unmindful of the silver shine
but sometimes the night does not dusk
the night too dawns

your beauty so steady
your fragrance so strong
your prominence is in your aura

hold your petals together for now
as the flourish of the May awaits you
for there are many hearts that are delighted to seek you
