Lingaphone Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Lingaphone

Lingaphone

Mohammad was colleague;
- (We worked in Pharmacy.)
-he purchased Lingaphone
-that played some records
-to learn more English
-by making sentences
-using words, grammar.

Today met a friend
- (an Afghan, a doctor)
-his eyes were like records
-but his tongue made comments:
- "…am caught by sea-current,
- between sharks and the whales,
-unconscious, powerless…"

Is married and has sons
-and in fight with his wife.

"Badly love my two boys
-cannot find a way out;
-shark bites them If depart,
-am filtered, insulted, if stay
-in huge mouth of whale! "

His voice like the teacher's
-in Mohammad's system
-that played the records!
-I look on and listen.

I learn more, of-about my friend
-Mohammad, English grammar.

I do not repeat the sentences
-but sigh deep and murmur:
- "Guess, best is childlessness;
-remaining single and bachelor
-for today and ever and ever."

Hate divorce but still
-worse is fighting daily!
