Listen Poem by Jennifer Beauge

Listen

Listen to the rain
For it tells a story
The story of those who came and are now gone
The story of those who fought for survival

Listen to the rain
As it falls on the roof
Listen, it announces a new beginning
A new life and changes
Listen, it's telling you to move on
Move on from all you've done wrong
Listen, it's telling you to come out and play
So it may wash your sins away
Take away your pain

Listen to the rain
As it fall on your wet cheek
It's telling you to hang on and that you're not alone
Listen, it's whispering to you a secret
A secret that man kind has yet to discover
Listen, it's reminding you that the future starts today
And that a new life has begun this day

Listen to the rain
Hear it for it sounds as beautiful
As your heart beats
Hear it, hear the sounds it makes as it hits the fence
Recognize the melody it produces
Along with the wind blowing through the leaves
Listen to the rain
For it has something to tell you
Listen, it might tell a story about you
What? You can't?
Well… maybe you're deaf
Or you just won't listen
