Listen Poem by Warri Stanley

Listen

5. LISTEN

When I tell you a story, listen
You might learn your lesson
I tell stories only in poems
That you may learn without problems

When I tell you a story, you need to be a thinker
And your horizon can only get wider
I am not a man with untrue stories
Check my works, I only tell you true stories

I was able to listen too
And that's why I am a tool

I tell the truth to them; the leaders
They too are supposed to be good listeners
so they can hear the cry of their followers
Those great men were all good listeners

Get the message into your ears
Let it flow into your veins, but bear...
...Bear it in your blood, let it yield results
Because without works and pain, there will be no results

Tell them, "listening is better than distraction
and distraction itself causes protraction"
Let all men listen carefully like a king
Kings...oh kings..before you decide on anything

Now go, go tell it to the streets..tell of their acts
Tell them to listen before they react
This would end all that stress
That this society of ours may progress
