Listen, Darling Poem by John Sensele

Listen, Darling

Sometimes I cry, sometimes I die
Sometimes I try, sometimes I sigh
Wondering why immense possibilities faded away
When wisdom dictated you and I give way

In keeping with the sadness society imposes
When by its dictates society love questions poses
Asking why you and I should unite
In circumstances where society cited night

Darkness and fecklessness you and I denied
Existed at all when your heart and mine flew to Brunei
Where our love would roam free
Climbing to the top of the tenderness tree

Harvesting at high speed fruit our love ate
When our hearts united love written on the slate
Where limpid letters spelt limpid love
Our hands sneaked into the love glove

Where, Splendour, I miss you
More than I can proclaim anew
In spite of circumstances
Love knows not in debatable distances and instances

I hold accountable
For miseries on the table
Vacated by love killed
By society so unskilled

It frowns upon love you and I would enjoy
In vats and mats where genuine love would deploy
Tactics and gymnastics to behold
Despite fates of censure we withhold

But would under no circumstances surrender
No matter how many strictures their heads render
Declaring illegal the bond
We believe never will abscond.
