Listen To Me Poem by Arielle Perkins

Listen To Me

Rating: 5.0

You are so beautiful that it pains me to see you cry.
I know you want to do what is right but find it so hard to try.
I see though your hardened protective exterior
To the weak and scared child found interior.
Always know that my love for you is true,
These are not words made up, now invented or new.
My love has stood through the trials and the test of time,
And even with your sins and errors consider yourself mine.

In your world of turmoil and confusion,
That is so full of desire and delusions.
Do not fix your eyes on what is shiny and gold,
Do not listen to the lies that are told.
For this all comes from one who will joyfully amuse you,
And then he will treacherously abuse you.
Always remember that Satan’s world is the gilded Pandora’s Box,
But when open will cover you with his lies, deceptions and rot.

I always want you to be the person that you are,
I am not expecting a holy saint or a super star.
I have never wanted what you can not be,
But for some reason this you can not see.
You know that in life we must all change,
There are always parts of us we must rearrange.
Just as you have things you do not accept,
I have standards and actions that I expect.

I know that it is your mother’s love you crave.
I see that from the way you behave.
Please remember what you always knew
That she felt rejected worst than you.
Maria’s mother mostly wore a frown,
Even when she was rarely around.
Mom always wanted her father near
But his pride and arrogance added to her fear.

Let’s go through this storm together,
Hold my hand in the inclement weather.
Look ahead at the hope I see
When we will finally live free.
Free of the burden of Satan’s world.
And we will fly with our sails unfurled.
Soon will be over this miserable time
