Listen To Me, I Am Talking Poem by Ali Farah

Listen To Me, I Am Talking

Listen to me, I am talking
Listen to me and don't interrupt.
Listen to what I am saying and not what you want to hear.
Listen to me so we can be hearing the same note.
Listen to me so I can listen to you in my turn

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was walking down at Central Square in Cambridge, MA, when all over sudden this woman was angrily saying with the loudest possible voice 'Listen to me, I am talking.'
It's hard when you are talking to someone and explaining your side of discussion but unfortunately, the other party keeps interrupting you.

I have noticed that many people have no understanding in the basic etiquette of carrying a simple conversation or discussion. They communicate you, only with their mouthes and not with their ears or minds. Even if they don't interrupt you, it is very likely, they are not listening to understand what you are saying but anxiously waiting their turn to dumb on you, their never wavering points of the argument.

Of course, it is not necessary for people to come in to a conclusion of agreement in every discussion, but it is important that we listen carefully and with open mind of what others are saying and not just make it the whole discussion, a one way channel of communication.
