Listening To Others Poem by Randy McClave

Listening To Others

You listen to them and not to me
From their eyes you want to see,
You believed everything that they said
And my words, you have not even read.
You have never walked in their shoes
And you haven't seen their dues,
And my shoes you haven't laced on
So, tell me whose the con.
You proudly stand at a person's side
Even after they have cheated and abused and lied,
And just because they are your kin
You believe that they didn't or couldn't sin.
I have never been ashamed or embarrassed of you
Those words in my soul are so very true,
You never did listen or believed what I did say
But, of course that is okay.
One day when your alone and left behind
When you are no longer deaf or blind,
The truth you will then finally receive
And until then, believe what you want to believe.
