Little Bird Poem by Peter Bain

Little Bird

Rating: 5.0

This time was bad
I was nearly gone
I woke to the singing
Of a little birdies song

There he is
Orange and red
Flapping his wings
Shaking his head

Every morning
Chirping away
Singing and dancing
Bringing the day

A fluffy little birdie
Resembling a ball
He struggles in flight
But gives it his all

He performs at my window
Sensing my pain
He's trying to help
Usually in vain

Today was different
It's been a while
Enjoying his antics
I happened to smile

Only for a second
In a moment of joy
The little birdie beckoned
Part of his ploy

I picked him up
He showed no fear
I looked in his eyes
He chirped in my ear

We shared a moment
I understood
Life was precious
Life was good

He gave me insight
From gentle play
One more song
Then flew away

I'm feeling stronger
I'm on the mend
'Thanks little birdie'
A brave little friend
