Little Birds At Night Poem by Brooke Renwick

Little Birds At Night

Rating: 5.0

Why don't the little birds sing at night?
Because the nocturnals gave them a fright.
The nocturnals said with a frown,
'Don't you sing when the sun goes down.'
'We are the night keepers in this town.'

The little birds got the picture well.
Not a sound or a peep do they tell.
The nocturnals hunting with perfect sight,
When the moon is full and high in the sky.
Sounds of screeching every night.

But when the sun rises again,
The little birds waiting and then,
Suddenly with a chorus of song,
All of the forest birds sing along,
Talking as a feathery throng.
