Little Dogs At Play! Poem by Dr John Celes

Little Dogs At Play!

They paw each other’s face,
And scratch noses;
They bite at their legs,
And are off to a race.

From dawn till dusk,
They want to play;
In sun, they bask,
And pant all way.

A poor kitten,
They love to chase;
They wag their tail,
When happy always.

They love to bite
A piece of bone!
They fight o’er food
And gobble it.

When hunger’s gone,
They take a nap;
They bark at strangers,
Keeping them at bay.

They love to dance
In rain all day;
And chase the ball
Along the way!

And when they know
They’re being watched,
Like circus clowns,
They run, unmatched.

When they are trained,
They behave well;
When they are caned,
They unleash hell!

Most children love
To see them lick
Each other’s fur,
When one is sick!

And when tired,
They’re off to sleep,
O’er each other
For all to peep!
