Little Dresses For Africa Poem by Rik Bertrand

Little Dresses For Africa

Little dresses for the girls,
And shorts for the boys
Reading stories and smiling
As they play with their new toys.

We don't always see,
What goes on behind the scenes.
Volunteers sewing seams,
Delivering dresses, creating dreams.

I have seen the small children,
The ones that have none,
I have seen them all weeping,
And crying in the sun.

Their story is to sad to tell,
But the ending can be changed,
Little dresses for Africa,
Frowns for smiles exchanged.

The smile or their faces,
The joy in their hearts
The little children of Africa
Their happiness is off the charts.

Thank you for your Dresses
And thank you for the shorts
God Bless all the volunteers
For all their selfless efforts.
