Little Flower Poem by Angela Wybrow

Little Flower

I see you stood there before my eyes,
And, I have to say, it's quite a surprise
To see you proudly standing there,
When all around is cold and bare.

Your splash of colour can be seen
Clearly amidst a sea of green;
What you are, I haven't a clue,
But I adore your petals of cornflower blue.

Since you bloomed, you've had it quite rough,
But you've proved yourself to be pretty tough;
Every day, you have weathered the storm -
Braved the winds and the frost in the morn.

There have been days which have been pretty mild,
But, on the whole, the weather's been wild;
Upon our patio, you are the only one
Left soaking up any stray rays of sun.

During the day, you're a beautiful bloom,
But, at night, you hide from the silvery moon;
I see you stood there, as I pass by:
Your stunning colour catching my eye.

Little flower, you've blossomed quite late,
But, seeing your beauty, it was well worth the wait!
It's almost Christmas: so late in the year,
But your presence has brought a dose of good cheer.

Little flower, sadly it won't be too long
Before you wither and your petals are gone;
But, little flower, I will always remember
The joy you brought to a cold, dark December.
