Little Girl Blue Poem by Angel Payne

Little Girl Blue

I have known better than part time friendships with part time benefits... part time promises that become full time non profits. You really aren't going to fool me.

I can do better than your 3: 05-am phone calls on Wednesday mornings, better than your fake smiles with fake personalities you only meet dripping off bathroom door handles.... pose for a picture.. classy.

..better than your slumber of a mess during the day and your princess dress to take you out at night..... into morning day breaks over your bacon covered hot dog on concrete steps.... next to the homeless....

this isn't Vegas, what are you really doing at 3: 45,40 minutes after you called me thinking I would answer you, little girl blue, there is no fire.... and I will not pick up.

The clubs are closed and only cops are driving these streets with your drunken eyes.... so don't be surprised when you are on the jail room floor with a DUI... wishing instead you would have shown up on my steps,8 hours earlier, with dinner in one hand, roses in the other... and a night that would have you handcuffed to bedposts instead of jail cells.

I hope one day, at the very least, you want something more for yourself.
