Little One Poem by jane solanrobertson

Little One

Rating: 4.3

How could I not have known you were there
When you needed, oh needed me so?
When you yearned for my blood, for my body and soul
That your own flesh and bones might grow
How could I not hear your desperate screams
Why did I not know my pain
Was the pain that you felt when you finally knew
That your cries for your life were in vain.
This grieving heart will never know
What came of the seed that was sown-
But you would have been my own Lifeblood
Little One, if I had known.
