Making Do Poem by jane solanrobertson

Making Do

Rating: 4.8

I've had my share of lovers
Passionate or cool
Excitable or brooding
Muscular
Slim
Or broad.
But they were n't you.
They called my name in masculine tones
Or sensitively whispered'I love you'.
Promised the world-
I just wanted you.
Now
It's been a lifetime spent
Making do
Second best
Third best
Anyone would do.
But they were never you.
