Little Treasures! Poem by Denis Martindale

Little Treasures!

When two white tiger cubs get close,
They often start to play.
A tail bite here or a scratched nose!
Sometimes, they're still OK.
But sometimes, tiger cubs bite hard!
And have an extra chew!
So that the others stay on guard,
Yet what else can they do?

Well, some, of course, fight back each time,
Beyond a sudden yell,
As if revenge repays the crime,
Should fighting turn to hell:
Take this! Take that! And here's some more!
Well, have you had enough?
With fighting choices to explore,
There's not much sign of love!

When things calm down, and things stay calm,
It's then that mending starts,
With no such thoughts of pain or harm,
It's time for healing hearts.
When parents watch these times of change,
Expecting good will come,
Then doing nothing's nothing strange!
They watch, then say, Ho-hum!
