Living Beyond Yourself - Poem by Curry Bascue

Living beyond one's self is truly living.
What can one do when they live for themself?
Watch friends and loved ones leave by the fives.
To become a picture left alone on a shelf…

Something has got to give.
Something has to change.
Because I want to live.
I want to change.

I'm just left conceded.
Giving up because I always come back defeated.
I want to get back what I miss.
Because I've given away everything in my life for this.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I always try to make things better in my life, but sometimes I believe that I am ruining someone else's life inadvertently. I know it's my fault and that I need to change. This is me reminding myself of what I must do to.
