Living Life For Me Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Living Life For Me

cried these tears, there in the mirror
tried my hardest to nurse this busted lip
the struggle to be free have gotten bitter
Each day that pass me by, felt myself slip

when we first met, you were so charming
I would regret, allowing you to harm me
didn't pay attention to any of the warnings

What's love got to do with it?
nothing you say convinces me
and by now I should be through with it
I'll get tired one day eventually

I can't take no more
see, I've found the strength
to walk out of the door
It was beneath my dignity to suffer

when I left you, Had a new lease on life
I would enjoy, everything offered to me
because, you see, i'm living life for me
