Living Like An Ostrich Poem by Anna Osipova

Living Like An Ostrich

We humans think that all we do is right
We always act so bold and talk so high,
We want to have the things we cannot reach…
But on the whole we're living like an ostrich:
We run away from things that frighten us,
We cannot fly, though dream to reach the stars,
We fight for food, though speak of good and bad,
In case of danger we just hide our head in sand.
We seem to know much more than feathered ones,
The evolution made us smart and wise.
We made the planes to fly and ships to sail,
We made computers so that we prevail,
We made spacecrafts to fly away from Earth
And find other forms of life in Universe,
We turned the rivers back, and dried the seas,
We did so much, though never lived in peace…
But ages passed and still we tend to hide
Like ostrich from the things we can't decide.
