Living Nightmare Poem by Kyle Delaney

Living Nightmare

The dark sun casts a shadow over my world. The air and ground beneath my feet are as dark and haunting as my thoughts. I try to escape the darkness but I just get closer to no were and further from reality. I’m suffering and being tortured as I’m trapped in my own mind. Swallowed by darkness, pain, agony, anger, all shaped from my past, my actions, my emotions, my reality. My heart sinks as my fear rises. I’m taken over by myself; I’m lost inside of me. Time pushes against me as I try to run from my past. I take one last step forward in a desperate attempt to escape, but I fall through the darkness, plummeting into deepest thought, greatest fear, certain death, when blinding light bursts through the darkness. I suddenly awake from the nightmare and I realize that everything is the same as before my dark slumber but everything is still the same from it as well.
