Living, Too Late Poem by Ben Partenay

Living, Too Late

bridge jump,
that's what she did
when she was just
a little girl

me, I read books
on war, on politics,
tried to be old
when I wasn't

run away
with me, that's what
she said three months
from a year ago

me, I stayed home
planned life down to
loan payments
and picket fences

now what, I can't
save her, not even
god can
she is already
gone

Sad poem, Ben. Well crafted and heart stopping piece on the fragility of human beings. Sincerely, William
