Local Heroes Poem by Francis Duggan

Local Heroes

In their local achievements small town heroes are made
And in their honor there is many a small town victory parade
Though locally a legend around them has grown
In the bigger World out there they remain as unknown
Greatness is different in different eyes
This much about people one does come to realize
The local heroes does dream of far greater esteem
But only the few realize their dreams it does seem
There are local heroes in every small town
But local is a far cry from far greater renown
Unlike the World famous who are known everywhere
They are not recognized in the big World out there
It is always local people that local heroes create
And in their eyes the ordinary are rather great.
