Lockdown Mother's Day Blues Poem by Alan Sandham

Lockdown Mother's Day Blues

I've got the Lockdown Blues,
The Mother's Day,
Be kind to others Day,
Lockdown Blues.

The nothing in the shops,
Search for food until she drops,
Can't even share a drink
With her family, I think,

I've got the Lockdown,
Mother's Day,
Blues.

We're all self-isolating,
Hoping we're creating
A safer spot for Mothers in their homes,

The reckless types are prating,
The birds are all out mating,
But I'm sure this is the right thing that we do,

Despite the the Lockdown Blues.
The Mother's Day Lockdown Blues.

So, treat your neighbour like a brother,
His kids, and all the others,
And don't infect your Mother with the Lockdown Blues.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We're having some difficulties in Britain caused by hoarders (verse 2)and with this new corona virus, and it's Mother's Day 22/03/2020. Not a proud time. On the other hand, BBC Radio Tees read this out only minutes after it was written.
