London Town Poem by Nick Jordan.

London Town

Down near the banks of the river Thames,
Or in Chinatown circa to De Hems,
Soho square or Battersea park,
The GMT line and the cutty sark.
Saint Mary's axe, Hampstead Heath,
The underground network that runs beneath.
Shepherds Bush, Liverpool street,
Above the ever changing skyline that's incomplete,
Buckingham palace, horse guards parade,
Lancaster gate, Piccadilly arcade,
Chelsea embankment, lime house link,
Canary wharf, Broadgate ice rink.
Shooters hill, abbey road,
Little Venice, or perhaps a Belgravia postcode?
Brixton market, maida vale,
Waterloo bridge to Tottenham Hale.
Poets road in N16 and all of the postcodes in between,
Highgate, Harrow, Chiswick and Ealing,
The Greenwich observatory's astro ceiling.
Big Ben chimes, changing of the guard,
Waterloo bridge, views from the shard.
Clapham common, oxford circus,
Route master busses carrying city workers,
Dagenham Ford plant, the Woolwich ferry,
London's landmarks so contemporary.
Crystal palace, Carnaby Street,
That heralded with the 60's beat!
Fulham Broadway, Camberwell green,
Leicester square premiers, on the big screen.
Hyde park corner, Acton Town,
Wimbledon village, the rose and crown.
Wandsworth, Haringey, Kensington & Barnes,
Camden lock and it's significant charms.
From Golders green, Chelsea, crouch end and Black Heath,
The extent of this great city beggars belief.
Bustling suburbs of shabby chic,
That's what makes London so unique.
From Perrivale, hanger lane to the stretch of Pall mall, Notting hill, Shepherds bush, this place has it all,
culture, colour, character and charm,
Putney for pub crawls, wetlands for tranquility and something more calm.
In my opinion, it's the worlds greatest city?
With stunning views from crystal palace incomparably pretty.
I challenge you to name a finer place,
London Town so full of Grace,
The capital of our beautiful England.
An incredible city, so magnificent so eloquent, superfluous and Grand.
