Lone Wolf Poem by Tona Wright

Lone Wolf

The blue crowned moon rises
The trees paint shadows upon the dark cold land
The bushes rustle as she darts through them
Misunderstood
Alone
She runs farther into the damp forest
Unaware of where she was going
The path was endless
Her paws ached
Her heart raced
Tears drenched her jet black fur
She was alone
She was rejected
Silence consumed the forest as she slowed to a stop
She howled in hope someone...anyone would hear
Nothing
No one
She was alone
Every night she passes by
Hoping to be seen
Yet everyone walks past her
As if she was a spirit
She is the lone wolf
