Loneliness Poem by Kelvin Stone

Loneliness

I wake in the morning to the cold hand of silence
I roll over in my bed to find that there is no warmth on the other side
I arise not to a smile but to the sound of a heavy heart
I walk to the bathroom but have nothing to share
I make breakfast but only one stomach leaves full
I walk to work but have no footprints to step into
I sit at my desk in my cloak of invisibility waiting for the day to end
I arrive home and walk through the house like a spirit visiting the living
I make my tea and sit at my small round table without the presence of knights
I sit in front of the tele and the echo's of my childhood haunt me
I retire to my bed for a night of sleepless slumber and wait for the groundhog to come again.
