A single tear lay quivering
Shivering
Glistening
Sparkling
Like a diamond in the sun
While those around passed judgment
In solitude about its origin
Its purpose
Its end
Its source
Some saw sadness
Others pain
One saw beauty
I saw rain
And in the moment before it fell
We made our choice
‘tween heav’n or hell
A dropp of water
A simple thing
We saw our souls
Or saw our shame
And walking past not one soul paused
That fact alone may be the cause
Behind the scene …
