Lonely Neighbor Poem by Ray Hansell

Lonely Neighbor

Talking with a neighbor
Just the other day
Telling me how lonely he was
Since his children moved away

He doesn't see his grand kids
Only talks with them once in a while
He said, living by himself
Just never was his style

Being married for sixty years
I got use to people being around
I know my children have their lives
I'm glad for the happiness they found

My kids live in another town
No more than twenty minutes away
But now I only see them
Usually, on the holidays

But I guess this is the way it will be
Until I reach the end
I wish the years would slow down
So more time together we could spend
