I carry wanting like a quiet ache,
A tide that pulls though nothing moves in sight;
Some dreams remain half-formed, afraid to wake,
They hover just beyond the reach of light.
Your absence fills the spaces of my days,
Not loud with grief, but soft and everywhere;
In common words, in half-remembered ways,
I feel your name dissolve into the air.
Desire learns to live without a voice,
To dwell in pauses, glances never shared;
It is the heart's most difficult choice—
To love what time has gently, firmly barred.
Yet in this ache, a strange truth comes to be:
Longing keeps alive what cannot be.
