Look Inside At The Inner Self's Sky Poem by Mohammad Younus

Look Inside At The Inner Self's Sky

Look inside at the inner self's sky.
How can I tell you what I see?
It is all mystery— forbidden to reveal.
I won't indulge your question:
"Do you see rainbows and sunlight,
Or grey clouds and rain? "

The sky shows me my face, like a mirror,
Revealing what was hidden from me.
Prophetic vision!
I see myself in the divine design.
Prophetic vision!
The Divine graces me with His eyes to see.

Look not up, but inside,
at the inner self's sky.
Yet, do not ask me what I see:
Is it an array of starlight?
Galaxies upon galaxies of light?
Or is it a void—dark valleys,
where color is unknown?

The sky shows me my luminous being,
From which the stars borrow their light.
The sky reveals my ecstatic song,
From which all music is born.
Prophetic vision!
I know now better than I knew myself afore.
Prophetic vision!
I see myself in the divine design.
The Divine graces me with His ears to hear.

Storms are breaking out!
Thunder shakes the heavens,
The earth quakes beneath,
Cries pierce the air.
But ask me not what I see:
Does the sky show me my pain?
Does it show me the end of time?

The earth's music sweetly begins again,
as at the dawn of creation.
Water of life flows from its cracks.
The rain of wisdom falls anew,
pattering on the ground.
The fierce storms have passed,
And there is not a single sound.
The sky reveals my rebirth in ecstasy.
Prophetic vision!
At last, I know my divine being.
Prophetic vision!
Yet more secrets are shown to me,
But it is all mystery— forbidden to reveal.
