Looking At Me (Song Lyric) Poem by John Carter Brown

Looking At Me (Song Lyric)

LOOKING AT ME

On a warm evening walk, at the end of the day
I stopped for a drink outside a cafe
I saw a nice girl, nearby a May tree
and I thought she was looking at me.

She ordered a drink, I ordered one too
as the band started up she was tapping her shoe
she tried to make out she was sipping her tea
but I knew she was looking at me.

How could I possible win, much as I needed to love her?
For me to try, was no sin, if she had not another

So I walked to her table, (I fancied my chance)
and I asked her politely if she wanted to dance
she said, "I knew we were going to be
when I saw you were looking at me."

So now to the end of my story and plea
this meeting of ours close by the May tree
and I hope that forever it always will be
that I'm looking at her and she's looking at me

Oh I hope that for ever it always will be
that I'm looking at her and she's looking at me.
