Looking Back Poem by p.k.n. panicker

Looking Back

Friends, I have stories to tell
a thousand ones of hurts, of injuries, of humiliations
often presented by close friends, by kith and kin
and by the society at large;

Yeas I have stories to tell
of seemingly victorious minds that spit fire of jealousy,
that stand in the way of sincere love and affection.

Even so I did witness people
who wouldn't flinch to do anything,
would love to sacrifice all to uphold sincere friendship,
people who live and burn like a candle to give love,
people who transcend to be divine.

It is beyond words
to fully express the mixed feelings in my mind,
to transport the emotive pressures within;
No, no language can penetrate into the depths of my mind
to receive the burning explosive emotions therein.

Today with a sense of fulfillment
of having lived this life to its fullness,
grateful moments to look back
and moments of a little pride

with all baggage packed,
I am ready to embark on yet another voyage,
a long one indeed with no farewells exchanged.

When this light is extinguished
I long to tell at the doorsteps of God's heaven
that I have a heaven of my own here on this earth,
in the minds of my friends and well-wishers,
a heaven better than all others.
