Looks Poem by Makala Kuhle

Looks

I looked at you and you stared right through,
a timeless little moment that cut me through and through.
I looked at you and you started seeing me,
your lingering gaze bringing me peace.
I looked at you and you looked away,
a blush rising up on your beautiful face.
I looked at you and there you were,
ready to tell me i’m who you’d prefer.
I looked at you and you couldn't see,
that maybe i’m not who you want me to be.
You looked at me and I looked at him,
your heart aching, mine feeling dim.
You looked at me, but I was all gone,
hoping you would just move on.
I looked at him and you looked at her,
our love a thing to which we’d never refer.
