Losses Poem by Thabani Khumalo

Losses

If you do care to know;
A heart cannot heal from any loss,
Hence man cannot forgive at all.
There sure is going to be a day soon,
When this chain of losses is going to be broken.
To the days I've employed account to only
The things that I gain but I have been hit
By a wave of absolute mystery and confusion -
A cheerful referendum surged on me the saddening sorrow of loss.

Story of my life:
I've lost all I've tried to keep
And remained with only the pain of loss heaped upon the other.
I have to spring out of the jinx of loss.
From the bottom of my broken heart,
I cancel the holding strength that loss has on me.
But it remains an encramping sorrow of mine, still,
when I try to remember all the other things
that are lodged in the memory.
