Lost And Found

I started out on a summer's day,
A simple walk to escape the city's sway.
Fields and woodlands stretched all around,
Sunlight danced, birds sang, peace abound.
A few turnings later, nothing looked the same,
Panic rose hot—fear called my name.

My phone was dead, no one in sight,
Branches scratched, shadows grew in the light.
I spun in circles, heart hammering fast,
Every step forward felt like my last.
The wild felt endless, cruel, and unknown,
Alone, unmoored, utterly on my own.

Then—a post with a familiar sign,
Something to anchor, a lifeline in line.
Relief washed over, my chest unclenched,
I was back where the countryside felt quenched.
The panic ebbed, the fear withdrew,
Safe in the place I already knew.
