Lost Highway Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Lost Highway

I've been out here driving all day,
Just heading down this lost highway.
I know now that I can never halt,
As I'm hypnotized by the asphalt.

The center lines are becoming blurry,
Because I always seem to be in a hurry.
I now can smell the rubber burning,
As the weels just keep on turning.

I keep on traveling without any rest,
And it keeps putting me to the test.
I enjoyed the scenery along the ride,
Now it seems that pleasure has died.

I must get to my destination,
There is no time for hesitation.
The loneliness and silence seem so hollow,
Along this endless road that I must follow.
