Lost In My Own Small Happiness Poem by Shalom Freedman

Lost In My Own Small Happiness

Lost in my own small happiness
I forget the world and its sufferings-
But escaping forever is impossible
And wherever the human being is
Pain comes back to them-

No one can be wholly free for long-
We all are touched by pain sometimes
Life is not easy not even for the happiest of us-
We all will go down to the grave sometime
And very few will be singing as we do.
