Lost Shelter Poem by Aswathi Asok

Lost Shelter

They demolished our house without any notice
The atrocious human activity pulled down the most beautiful nest we prepared for our newborn
The eggs broken and shells scattered in the air
The mother bird cried aloud and flapped her wings in panic
Her tears unnoticed
Our two injured friends fallen off from the branch and died in front of us but,
We remained powerless
We flew tirelessly elsewhere seeking shelter
But, all the big trees were vanished from the earth
We continued to fly for a roof and the man who cut the tree sleeping blamelessly in his own house.
