Love Poem by Maya Iyer

Love

Love
I know it's been years
Since we held hands
Looked with longing
Into soulful eyes

How we ruined those moments
With angst and envy
Every moment a treasure
Now a mere sliver of memory

I cry at my harsh words
Your patience and cajoling
The break ups and tense make up
Never believing you would leave

I garner all those pearls
Special, soothing words
A silent wish deep within
Come back once again...
