Love Along The Road Poem by Arcely Talicuad

Love Along The Road

Rating: 4.5

I was sitting at the bench along the road, when I saw you
Arms on your pockets and walked like a hero;
It seemed like time stopped for a moment
While my heartbeats raced, like vehicles on the street.

My quiescent sense of touch, suddenly awaken
The extreme burning day, appeared to be like dawn
The wind made me feel wobbly; and it was chilling me down!
Like I was punched by an asinine ghost, seeing you around.

Uncertain if, I would say "hi" or "hello"?
But I would rather be, than not trying to
Hopeful that you won't be, neglecting my approach;
Because if that happened, I would run away like a stupid cockroach!

So I did! With my voice filled with syrupiness,
While my mind was wishing, for a positive response
Trying to kill a war between conscience and desire
As I was in front of you, waiting for your answer.

You stopped and just stared and I panicked!
I didn't see anything, drawn on your dazzling face
I wished I had a magical power to make myself vanish!
Because I couldn't believe, I was acting dim-witted.

I stepped backward; and decided to just run!
When you uttered words and quickly grabbed my hand.
"Where are you going? " you asked me so
He said "Don't be an idiot, I am looking for you! ".
