Love And Loss, Emotional Turmoil Poem by Jacqueline Thomson

Love And Loss, Emotional Turmoil

When was the decision to desert me made?
I guess some time ago, your cards were already played.
Dad's death just another excuse, another ruse,
Designed to inflict pain, hurt and confuse.

Tell me when did the resentment begin?
Surely not recently but for a long time slowly burning within.
Sickening you and those around you with your jealousy and greed,
For me you felt nothing, just another burden you did not need.

I am still at a loss as to why you hurt me so.
Why not instead confront me with your feelings, instead of violently letting go.
I know I was good to you, I know I loved you,
But now a burning question exists, were you ever true?

For me or my husband did you care less?
Just another lifetime mistake, another memory to repress?
I will probably never understand but this I know to be true,
I was kind, I was faithful and I used to mean it when I said I love you.
