Love Departed Poem by Jackie Vaughn

Love Departed

Rating: 4.5

It never seems to fail, it's always me;
My life's a deadend for everyone to see.

I won the girl of my dreams, then I lost you too;
Instead of moving on, I sit around blue.

Things change for me, from bad to worse;
I still love you but loving you is my curse.

What should I do? You're not coming back;
I know life goes on but I can't get back on track.

I miss your touch, your voice, your smell;
Living life without you is truly pure hell.

There were others before you and everyone knows;
I never cared about any of them, it was only for show.

Things are different now, this I swear;
I wouldn't break your heart, I wouldn't even tear.

Without you my life is so dull and bland;
I wish I could kiss your lips or just hold your hand.

That would be like a dream coming true;
But reality is a nightmare as is living without you.

I wake from restless sleep, you're never to be found;
Whispering your name in the darkness is the only sound.

I can't go on and you know this too;
Everything around me reminds me of you.

Is it possible for you to not think about me?
Or is what we had another lost chapter in history?

If we were to talk or come face to face;
Would it end in an argument or a loving embrace?

Are your feelings bottled up? Are there even any?
Was I just the first in a long list of many?

I'm lost, confused, I just don't understand why;
You and I could make it if we gave things a try.

I know we've tried before, more than once or twice;
But giving in to each other, would make our lives so nice.

I'm waiting for you, I guess I'll always be here;
I'll wait forever, if it's a day or all my years.

But if I should die and take that trip to the sky;
Where Heaven awaits both you and I.

I'll know what to expect, I've felt it before;
It's you, the love we shared, and so much more.
