Love Lies Poem by P.J. Reed

Love Lies

Rating: 5.0

Bright,
Shining star.
On sultry sand,
Drying seaweed
Curls and sighs
Like Silent spectres
Yachts' glide past.
Watched by
Sleepy, golden
Sun.

Seagull
Shrieking,
Swoops and dives,
On silvery fish
In tangling weeds.
Pebbles jingling,
With your laugh,
Water runs
From my
Grasp.

Your face
Ripples
Under waves.
Memories lost
To tidal graves.
Sweet sea smell
Of salty sand,
Perfume placed
Upon your
Hand.

One day
Our love
Was washed away.
While walking on,
A lanterned pier.
Blinking on
A twilight night
I spied a
Cosy couple
Walking By.

Water playing with
Your hair
Fixed blue eyes
Just seem to stare.
You never saw me
Standing there.
And waves rush in
As days roll past
Fading memories
Always last.
