Love Like Ours Poem by Joshua Thomas

Across our horizons there is a line few cross.
For the love it offers, could mean life or dire loss.
I wanted no sky, no stars, no moon, and no other
Your love’s reply, never to be given to another

Forever and a day, I preached my heart.
But each word meant nothing as we drifted apart.
We tore asunder, but longed for our lives again,
As I begged God to make it as we once had been.

But lives moved on for too many long years
And words never spoke of memories scarred by tears
So remember the past but see me today
As the man you wanted, who was lead astray.

For all the lovers we find could never replace,
The day we found love in each others embrace.
And though others will come to taketh you away,
Know always and forever in my heart you will stay.
