Through long love aching
Through despair, through dying
Through slow heart breaking
Through endless bitter crying
I went down the dark way
With none beside me
Anguish beating out it's storm
Upon my helpless body
Met the end of all
Naked and unadorned
A world of torment,
I battled there so forlorn
Then knew suddenly on a strange night
That all i needed to conquer such wild terror
Stemmed from the midst of me
A right, inviolate which could not yield to error
Evil was the pain which love had brought me
Yet good was that which painful love had taught me
My arms are empty and my heart will ache
Many a long night love for your sake
And know I too, softly sadly
I could love you rightly now and madly.
Yet whatever shall i cherish til I die,
The knowing that within me..there is I
