Love Opens A Sea Within Poem by Mohammad Younus

Love Opens A Sea Within

Love opens a sea within,
holding all truths, mother of books.
Delusion of duality—
I wasn't ready to divorce it.
Now I see I'm okay,
conscious of One Reality.

How long I've kept my head
under clouds of smoke,
dead drunk with wine,
causing insobriety.

Now I feel sensitive,
allergic to the pungent smell
of the divine's prohibited wine.

The wine that causes not inebriation
wasn't bad, a heaven's gift,
but I took it not.
What if I had taken that sacred wine?
Could I have seen my true reality in wakefulness?

But, what if I had taken the prohibited wine?
Would I have broken off my true reality,
found no one to join me back?

Now, my mind, heart, and soul know
I must never lose my divine intellect,
the source of sobriety,
revealing things as they truly are.

It is time to accept the single essence
of all things, manifestations
of One Reality.

I feel grateful for my sobriety,
which has helped me realize
Self and God awareness,
guiding me to divine reality.

Now that sobriety has taken the reins,
I know where it will lead—
to enlightenment about Unity.

And I know it's going to be okay
for me to be a Muwahhid.
And even if it's not okay
with my people, and things get hard,
I will still be okay.
