Love's End Poem by Michelle Dickson

Love's End

I’m sorry
So sorry
I didn’t mean for this to happen
I never wanted it to end this way
Please wake up
To begin a new day
With the one you claimed to love

You claimed to love me
Yet why do you not wake
You said you’d always be there
To protect me from this wake
Of emotion so strong
That it makes you fall to your knees
And cry your heart out
On those very leafs

We buried you beneath that apple tree
The one you loved so much
The one just for you and me

We buried you
Yet no one cried a single tear
Except for the love that will be forever near

I’m sorry
So sorry
For what I’m about to do
The one thing you hated above all
Yet I have already made the fall
To oblivion where I hope to wait
That warm sweet embrace
