Love Sonnet 05: If I May Say, That Crimson Rose You Wear

If I may say, that crimson rose you wear,
Looks red, but tainted, not as red so pure,
Its tints of violet, a purplish smear,
Bespeaks not your sweet ways, true and demure,
I hate to think what damasked signifies,
Though rose so patterned and motley is rare,
But rose for you, must know no butterflies,
Uncrossed and not grafted, of hybrids, bare;
Will fitting rose be one, not there at all?
If it will just turn out as floral waste?
And might therein, a fruiting bloom install,
That while seen, also gratifies the taste?
.....Yet, that rose, I need not the least despise,
.....It rivals not the sparkle of your eyes.
