Love (True Love Waits 1) Poem by U Win Kyi

Mr Wang is a 81-year-old veteran,
from the army of ruling party Kuomingtan,
which about 60 years ago retreated to Formosa Island.
His wife and newly-born son were left in China Mainland.
They were separated for 40 years.
For reunion, no one was sure to tell,
because Taiwan and Mainland China were arch enemies,
due to different ideology,
which might last for centuries.

He never remarried and hoped for returning home.
She was faithful to him and raised her son alone.
Then in 1987, Taiwan people were allowed to visit Mainland China,
He went there and brought back his wife for reunion in Taiwan Formosa.

Now the old couples are seen always holding hands,
caring and loving each other with no end.
Their hearts and souls are firmly chained,
which cannot afford to be separated a second again.

In 60 years they have their 1st Valentine Day,
sponsored by Hwar Shan funds because they are too poor to pay,
they know not about chocolate, post-card or a beautiful bouquet,
but they know marital vow is to be kept and obeyed.
For them infidelity is no way.
